B Corp Month: Design as a force for good.
B Corp Month is an opportunity to reflect on a milestone that remains deeply meaningful to our studio. Becoming a Certified B Corporation is a rigorous undertaking, auditing how we operate across Governance, Workers, Community, Environment, and Customers to ensure a sustainable future.
For Sims Hilditch, this certification formalised values we have long upheld: designing with purpose, nurturing our team, and making responsible choices at every stage of our work.
Governance | Leading With Integrity & Purpose
Strong governance is the foundation of responsible design. At Sims Hilditch, this means embedding accountability and transparency into our DNA. We see our role as advocates for a more ethical supply chain; we vet our partners not just for their craft, but for their commitment to fair practices. By holding ourselves to these high standards, we ensure that every project is managed with a long-term mindset that values integrity over convenience.
Workers | A Studio Where People Can Thrive
Our team is our greatest asset. Recognised by The Sunday Times as one of the Best Places to Work, we prioritise an environment where creativity and wellbeing coexist. We believe that by fostering a culture of professional development and mutual support, we empower our designers to be thought leaders in sustainable luxury, bringing fresh, conscious perspectives to every home we create.
Community | Using Design as a Tool for Positive Change
We believe design should be a force for good. Through longstanding partnerships with charities such as Jamie’s Farm and continued support for Maggie’s, we use our skills to make a tangible difference. From over 100 hours of pro bono design and procurement work to hands-on volunteering, we are proud to support organisations that transform lives and strengthen the fabric of our local communities. By sharing our journey and demonstrating the impact of purpose-led design, we hope to inspire a collective shift toward a more compassionate and responsible professional landscape.
Environment | Advocating for Circularity & Zero Waste
The design industry has a significant role to play in the health of our planet. Our environmental approach prioritises restoration over replacement. We champion the use of antiques and the reviving of pre-loved pieces, ensuring storied objects stay in homes and out of landfills. This commitment extends to our material choices; we select natural textiles and noble materials that age gracefully, and we are constantly innovating to reduce fabric waste through creative repurposing and thoughtful procurement.
Looking Ahead
Being a B Corp is not a badge but a mindset, one that requires ongoing action, evaluation, and a vocal commitment to doing better. As we look to the year ahead, we remain dedicated to our role as advocates for purposeful beauty. We will continue to challenge industry norms, cherish our environment, and create homes that stand as a testament to responsible, timeless design.
We are proud of the progress we’ve made, and energised by the work yet to come.
