Christmas in the Cotswolds

The countdown to Christmas is firmly underway. In my own home, Christmas usually means spending a fair amount of time in the kitchen so I thought I’d share a peak into the Sims-Hilditch family hub. When my husband and I made the decision to convert a barn and two stone cottages into our family home, it gave me the opportunity to design a generous open plan kitchen, dining and living area.

One doesn’t need a huge amount of room for a kitchen to work – I demarcated the working zone by a level change so that one steps up into the kitchen, giving it an elevated perspective.

I chose cabinets that have a free-standing feel and painted the dresser dark grey to create impact. I change the arrangements according to the seasons to create a visual attraction. At Christmas I decorate it with sprigs of fir and pine cones – a lovely movable feast!

Wishing you all the best this Christmas,
Emma
