Scottish Lodge

Set within the beautiful Scottish highlands we have designed this Scottish Lodge to feel perfectly at ease with every season, which will soon be predominantly used in autumn during hunting season. It was this intended use as well as the breath-taking archetypal Scottish character borne from its mountain-side setting, that became our inspiration for the colour palette and furnishings.

Hints of pared-down plaid sit against wholesome, earthy tones of burnt ochre, russet orange leaves and various depictions of green, from moss to loden in woollen tweed and slubbed linens. We grounded the property in timber – a decision informed by the towering trees that surround the lodge – with oak floorboards treated in such a way that they appear dark and charred. Woven sisal carpets were also chosen to provide contrasting textures underfoot.

The only room to be found at the top of the stairs is a double-height sitting room with a pitched ceiling that is elevated here to take in the wonderful valley views. As this is the largest room in the home we have granted it bigger pieces of furniture, but equally creating necessary cosy nooks, such as the one at the end of the room with a wood burner accompanied by two corresponding Howard & Sons armchairs upholstered in herringbone tweed.
